Who is Gary Brasher?
Gary Brasher is a life-long resident of Arizona and a devoted athlete. He was born in Phoenix and attended the University of Colorado, where he was a member of the 1976-77 Big Eight Championship/Orange Bowl team. Later, Gary returned to his home state and graduated from Arizona State University in 1981 with a B.S. in political science with an emphasis in pre-law.
Gary began his widespread career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a pilot on an aerial surveillance team. The crew was responsible for surveillance activities in a variety of cases, including Foreign Counter Intelligence and fugitive surveillance and apprehension.
For the past 24 years, Gary has been the owner/president of Brasher Real Estate, a full service brokerage company. He is also president and partner in Rose Valley Water Company, as well as president of Baca Float Water Company.
As a high school student in 1976, Gary made a first-time commitment to Christ at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes event. Since then, Gary has been passionately involved with FCA as a member, volunteer and staff person. For two years, he served as chairman of the Phoenix and State Board of Directors for FCA. In 1987, Gary stepped in as interim state director for Arizona FCA and faithfully led the ministry for 18 months while a full-time replacement was sought.
In addition to his commitment to FCA, Gary has served Arizona in several civic positions. For 14 years, he served as president of the Santa Cruz Valley Citizens Council, a community group that serves as a quasi-governmental organization for community affairs in Tubac, Ariz., and serving the entire Santa Cruz Valley. Gary is currently chairman of the Real Estate Committee of the Arizona Mexico Commission and past chairman of the Real Estate Advisory Board, both appointed positions by the Arizona governor.
Athletics have always played a major role in Gary’s life. Gary has been running in 5K and 10K races since 1978, and he completed his first marathon in 2003. He competed in the P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in Tempe in 2005. In April 2005, Gary built a house for a triathlon coach, Tom Mansey, and began training with him. Gary participated in his first Ironman triathlon in 2006 and has been competing ever since.
Gary continues to champion the message and mission of FCA through his endurance racing and volunteer positions. He currently resides in Tubac with his wife, Patricia, and has two children, Alex and Delaney, and two step-children, Mason and Barrett.
